The municipality Horní Suchá is situated on the territory of former Tesin principality. First written reference about the principality comes from the year 1305. Horni Sucha is located in the east corner of republic among Karvina, Havirov and Cesky Tesin cities near to Poland borders. With area 980 hectares and 4 573 inhabitants (to 31. 12. 2022) is rated among medium-sized municipalities. Under municipality there were located deposits of coal, which are almost depleted nowadays. The mining of coal influenced significantly development of Horni Sucha.
